Prompt Engineering

The art of writing instructions that get AI to do what you actually want. The "prompt" is whatever text you send to the AI, and "engineering" it means structuring that text carefully to get better results.

For chatbots, prompt engineering happens behind the scenes. The system prompt (instructions the chatbot follows for every conversation) determines its personality, what it knows, how it handles escalation, and what it won't talk about.
